HAMILTON, ON – Due to restrictions on gathering mandated by Ontario’s province-wide shutdown, the recording and broadcast of the online concert A New Year’s Celebration has been postponed. The shutdown began on December 26, 2020 and continues through January 23, 2021. A New Year’s Celebration was scheduled to premiere online on January 23, 2021. The new premiere date of this concert will be announced as soon as the shutdown is lifted.

Online concerts from February through June will proceed as planned, and staff will continue to monitor the situation as upcoming concert dates approach. Concerts in the 20-21 Season may be rescheduled, but no concerts will be cancelled. All online concerts will be available for 30 days following their premiere date, even if rescheduled.

In lieu of this month’s online concert, the HPO has made three previous concert broadcasts available again on their online platform. As of Monday, January 11, September’s Joyful Mozart, October’s Whimsical Woodwinds and November’s Reflections from Russia have been reactivated. For those who have previous purchased these concerts, they will automatically appear on their account. Each will be available for purchase until January 31 at 6pm EST and will remain available to view until January 31, 2021 at 11:59pm EST. The HPO also plans to share talks and performances on its online channels through the month of January, including at-home performances by HPO musicians and a live interview with Music Director Gemma New.
