HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra announces the latest concert in the Indie Series. On June 23 at 7:30pm at The Gasworks (141 Park St. N.) the Indie Series returns with a performance that blends the folk-pop style of local vocalist, Hanna Bech with musicians of the HPO.

Supported by TD, the Indie Series gives Hamiltonians the opportunity to experience HPO musicians perform with local emerging bands, in a hybrid concert experience that features new and familiar works, blending the classical and folk-pop genres. This program features innovative music that pushes traditional boundaries and connects with new audiences to introduce more people to Hamilton’s thriving music scene.

This year’s Indie Series features Hanna Bech. Nominated for the Emerging Artist Award, as part of the 2017 Hamilton Arts Awards, Hanna is becoming known for her quirky mixture of innovative writing and childlike wonder.
Working with the unique instrumentation of violin, oboe, bassoon, double bass, percussion, piano, harp and cello, Hamilton-based composer Christien Ledroit and Principal Bass and artistic lead Rob Wolanski have created innovative cross-genre works for Hanna Bech and a chamber ensemble of the HPO. Each piece has been taken out of its original context, reworked for the orchestration of both Hanna Bech and the HPO ensemble.
