About

Alligator Pie and The Hockey Sweater

Join HPO Composer-In-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte as she leads your students through the process of using rhythm, harmony, melody and the incredible instruments of the orchestra to bring the moods and expressions of stories and characters to life. Using her own compositions based on two beloved children’s books, Alligator Pie and The Hockey Sweater, Abigail discusses her compositional process that breathes life into the words on the page.

From ceramic tiles portraying hockey skates on ice to the incredible sound of the pipe organ students learn that the instruments of the orchestra can be used in many ways and that their own creative process is limitless!

This workshop can be tailored to the age group of the audience.

This workshop supplements the Language Arts and Music curricula of the Province of Ontario.
