The HPO’s 19-20 Season continues as we welcome the legendary Canadian Brass for our Mainstage performance A Canadian Brass Salute. The brass quintet also joins the orchestra for our annual Daytime Student Concert. HPO musicians perform in a number of free events in the community.
HAMILTON, ON – On Friday, November 1 at 12pm the HPO Violin and Viola Duo perform at the Hamilton Public Library Central Branch as part of the HPL’s Noon Hour Concerts series. This is a free event.
On Friday, November 8 at 11:30am students from around the region gather at FirstOntario Concert Hall for the HPO’s Daytime Student Concert: A Canadian Brass Experience. The orchestra performs alongside the Canadian Brass in this hour-long performance.
On Saturday, November 9 at 7:30pm the Canadian Brass join the HPO for A Canadian Brass Salute at FirstOntario Concert Hall (formerly Hamilton Place) featuring guest conductor Joey Pietraroia. The internationally-renowned brass quintet has a long history in Hamilton, as the ensemble was formed in the 1970s by members of the HPO brass section. The concert features familiar favourites infused with the virtuosity and personality characteristic of the Canadian Brass. The Regimental Band of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry open the concert in a noble salute to our community’s military personnel.
On Tuesday, November 12 at 2pm our Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte is at the Burlington Public Library Central Branch for Composers Influenced by their Homeland: A Talk and Performance. This free event includes an engaging talk by Abigail on the lives and music of composers along with performances at the piano. This is a free event.
On Friday, November 15 at 6pm HPO musicians perform alongside musicians of the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at CF Limeridge Mall. Attendees with be treated to familiar carols and holiday favourites at this free event.
