HPO and HMC Launch Marnie and Larry Paikin Music Education Initiative
A Partnership Between The Hamilton Music Collective And The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra In Memory And Honour Of Marnie Paikin.
The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) and the Hamilton Music Collective (HMC) proudly announce a transformative educational partnership initiative in memory of the late Marnie Paikin. A devoted supporter of both organizations, Marnie Paikin strongly believed in the power of making quality music experiences accessible to children from underserved communities.
In honour of Marnie Paikin’s legacy, this collaborative initiative aims to enrich the lives of young people through enhanced educational opportunities. The heart of the program lies in providing hundreds of An Instrument for Every Child (AIFEC) elementary aged students with access to high-quality education programs and live performances.
As part of this groundbreaking partnership, AIFEC students will attend HPO rehearsals and musical demonstrations by HPO musicians live at FirstOntario Concert Hall. This unique opportunity offers young students the chance to engage with musicians, learn more about music and enjoy the beauty and richness of live orchestral performances. These engaging sessions will not only expose young minds to the magic of music but also inspire and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
“Experiencing a symphony orchestra firsthand, where children can see and hear strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion perform live, creates an indelible memory that lasts a lifetime. We’re excited to enhance our partnership with the HPO, offering these invaluable experiences to our AIFEC students.” CEO Astrid Hepner.
“The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is proud of our longtime partnership with An Instrument for Every Child. This collaboration highlights our shared dedication to make music education accessible and ignite a love of music in young people, especially those who might not see themselves represented in orchestral music.” Executive Director, Kim Varian.
Through the collaborative efforts of The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and The Hamilton Music Collective, this initiative stands as a testament to Marnie Paikin’s enduring legacy. By breaking down barriers to access, the organizations aim to create a musical legacy that resonates with the values Marnie held dear – the belief that every child, regardless of background, deserves the opportunity to experience the transformative power of music.
Programming starts in the 24-25 season.
