NOSKY PERFORMS HANDEL, HAYDN & BACH, APRIL 12, 2025 AT 7:30 PM, FIRSTONTARIO CONCERT HALL, 1 Summers Lane, Hamilton, ON
HAMILTON, March 27, 2025 – The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra wraps up its Composer Festival, From Bach to Haydn, on a high note with a Mainstage concert featuring renowned virtuoso neo-Baroque violinist Aisslinn Nosky. Nosky performs and leads the orchestra in works by some of the most striking innovators of orchestral music, Haydn, Handel, and J.S. Bach, in true Baroque fashion.
Known to Canadian audiences as a member of Tafelmusik and I Furiosi, one of the world’s most innovative Baroque ensembles, Nosky is an international star in her own right with a reputation for bringing new life to Baroque composers. Her playing style is as fiery as her scarlet hair. One of the most dynamic and versatile performers of her generation, she captivates audiences with her charisma, flair, vivid interpretations, impeccable technique and masterful artistry.
Audiences will delight in Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, likely the most familiar of the six concerti, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 94. Also known as ‘The Surprise Symphony’, it’s as much a sensation today as it was when the HPO first performed the work during its first concert 140 years ago. Handel’s popular Concerto Grosso No. 3 and Bach’s beloved Violin Concerto in A Minor round out the program.
“Nosky Performs Handel, Haydn and Bach is the perfect grand finale to this year’s Composer Festival,” said Kim Varian, HPO’s Executive Director. “As we continue to celebrate our 140th anniversary, we have filled this year’s Composer Festival with imaginative ways to take music out of the concert hall and into our community. We are proud to share our rich history of orchestral music-making in Hamilton and celebrate with our community in the Concert Hall and around the city.”
HPO’s Composer Festival From Bach to Haydn is a fascinating celebration of music in the community that has been carefully designed to engage people of all ages, music lovers and professional and amateur musicians alike. Annual events such as the Community Rehearsal and the Pro-Am Jam session of local amateur and professional players along with HPO musicians have generated a growing enthusiastic audience.
