FORE IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hamilton, ON – The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to announce that it is purchasing new accessibility platforms to accommodate more people with physical disabilities at every concert.

While FirstOntario Concert Hall is a noted architectural gem in Hamilton, it doesn’t boast the infrastructure to accommodate an ample number of patrons with disabilities, and each season the HPO must turn away dozens of patrons, and that number is growing every year. Installing this portable equipment at FirstOntario Concert Hall in Hamilton gives the HPO the opportunity to accommodate more people at mainstage concerts, attract new patrons that may not have had the opportunity to experience live orchestral music in their community, and bring us closer to our goal of being an inclusive organization that provides people of all abilities the opportunity to fully participate in our art form. This investment in our region’s premier concert hall also ensures a higher quality of infrastructure to experience the arts in our community.

This additional accessibility seating is made possible by the generous support of $21,000 from The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Grant.

“The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded $108 million to 626 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.”
