HAMILTON, ON – The HPO proudly congratulates our former Executive Director Diana Weir on being named one of the YWCA Hamilton’s Women of Distinction in the Arts, Culture, Design category.

Weir was honoured alongside nine phenomenal Hamilton women for achievements and contributions to the wider community at a packed gala event held at the Hamilton Convention Centre the evening of March 5.

Weir began her work with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012 and became its Executive Director in 2017. During her time with the organization, the HPO enjoyed five straight years of budget surpluses, invested in an unprecedented volume of community outreach activities, and increased revenues by 30 per cent.

Diana graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Cultural Studies and has worked for several non-profit arts organizations, including the Canadian Opera Company and the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

In March 2019, Diana received the Canada Council’s prestigious John Hobday Award for Arts Management. In December 2019, Diana was appointed to the newly created role of Vice President, Strategic Partnerships at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
