HAMILTON, ON—The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) and Music Director Gemma New present the latest multidisciplinary concert experience, Intimate & Immersive: Escape to Paradise on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30pm at the Studio (FirstOntario Concert Hall, 1 Summers Lane). In this unconventional format, concert-goers are seated around the orchestra only feet from the musicians. Audience members are encouraged to switch seats between pieces to hear each work from a new perspective.
Augmented by multimedia projections created by artist Tony Vieira, this program evokes the music of rich and vibrant landscapes. Feel waves of colour wash over you and enjoy lose yourself in sensation, perception and experience.
Music on this program includes acclaimed compositions from some of the most exciting contemporary composers of our time. Featuring works by renowned composer Jose Evangelista, 2018 JUNO Award winning composer, Jocelyn Morlock, and New Zealand born sensation Salina Fisher, this concert is a must-see for new music aficionados and newcomers alike.
Supported by SOCAN Foundation, this interactive concert is the first of two events scheduled in the 2018-19 Season, and gives new audiences an opportunity to experience the HPO in a unique, casual environment. Concertgoers can mingle, enjoy a drink and speak with the Conductor and musicians throughout the evening.
