FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra partners with leading experts to present the panel discussion Music and Wellness: Shared Perspectives. This unique conversation takes place Thursday, July 18 at 2pm at the Hamilton Public Library Central Branch and is free to attend.

An initiative of the HPO’s Wellbeing Committee, this event begins a conversation with the local community about the benefits of music for physical and mental wellness. Moderated by HPO Executive Director Diana Weir, the panel brings together three experts in their respective fields: Dr. Laurel Trainor, Founding Director of the McMaster Institute for Music and the Mind and ground-breaking researcher; Rachael Finnerty, Founder and Director of Education at the Ontario Music Therapy Academy; and Stephen Sitarski, HPO Concertmaster, music educator and mental health advocate.

Highlighting current music cognition research and trends in music therapy, this panel discussion explores music’s therapeutic attributes and presents ways that music can be used as a tool to promote physical and mental wellness in everyday life. This event also features a short solo violin performance by Stephen Sitarski.

Limited seating is available. Guests are advised to register in advance online.
