Queen Mary’s (Mary Gold) musical journey began in the heart of her community, singing in school and church choirs where her love for music was nurtured. From a young age, she sang in church several times a week and performed for the first time at the age of 6 on the stage of a country fair in Rockton, her hometown. A milestone moment that marked the beginning of her journey as a performer. Her dedication to music led her to study vocal jazz at Mohawk College and the University of Toronto, where she gained valuable skills and forged meaningful connections in the music industry. This education laid the foundation for a thriving career as a performer and songwriter. Queen Mary has graced some of Canada’s most renowned stages, including the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Toronto Beaches Jazz Festival, and performances with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Darcy Hepner.

Beyond Canada, she has traveled extensively across the United States and South America, leading and performing with children’s groups, showcasing her versatility and global reach. She’s also held residencies in Toronto’s vibrant jazz clubs, further establishing her presence in the local music scene. She has released music under former monikers, including Mary McKay and Queen Pepper, the latter featuring a full-length Soul/R&B album, “True Stories Vol. 1,” released in 2019. As a songwriter, Queen Mary’s work has reached broad audiences through syndicated songs for television and movies, as well as contributions to children’s educational programs. Her creative process is deeply intertwined with her passion for education and her commitment to inspiring the next generation of musicians. She is currently working on a solo album. Queen Mary’s career is a testament to her dedication to her craft and her unwavering desire to share the transformative power of music with the world.
