In the early days John fronted bands alongside classic blues players like Mel Brown and shared stages with the iconic Mat “Guitar” Murphy. Simultaneously exploring the rich landscape of jazz, John collaborated with local talents in the vibrant Niagara Region, culminating in studies with Mark Murphy, the esteemed “Down Beat” jazz vocalist of the year.
John’s musical odyssey includes performances at renowned jazz hubs in Toronto, showcasing his evolving confidence and technique. His debut album, “I Remember” (2001), introduced a captivating blend of melodic favourites like “Creepin'” and “I Remember Clifford,” alongside his swinging original composition, “Last Time.”
Ontario has become John’s stage, gracing iconic venues such as the Ottawa Jazz Festival, TD Niagara Jazz Festival, and the Twilight Jazz Series. Residencies at esteemed wineries like Red Stone and Megalomaniac, as well as popular dining establishments like Wellington Court, attest to his widespread appeal.
