FORE IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HPO’s powerful 17-18 Season continues as we welcome spring with a range of exuberant and inspiring events. See your HPO in the community at the Gallery Series, in collaboration with Hamilton’s own Terra Lightfoot, and in an unforgettable mainstage performance with JUNO-nominated, superstar violinist, James Ehnes.

HAMILTON, ON – On Wednesday, March 7, the HPO Flute and String Ensemble performs at Earls Court Gallery as a part of the Gallery Series. This free event is hosted by the musicians and starts with a presentation of the gallery’s current art exhibition. Stay and enjoy a post-concert reception and meet the musicians and gallery curators.

On Friday, March 9, the HPO is proud to join Terra Lightfoot at the McMaster LIVElab for a special performance of her new album New Mistakes. Built around her live band – Maury LaFoy, Joel Haynes, and Jeff Heisholt. The performance showcases Lightfoot’s vivid lyrics and powerful, bluesy soulful sound.

On Friday, March 16, seniors are invited to join Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte for another edition of Seniors’ Talk and Tea on Beethoven’s Transition to the Romantic Era. The event include coffee, tea, treats and special access to the HPO’s rehearsal in the Great Hall.

On Saturday, March 17 world-renown violinist James Ehnes joins Music Director Gemma New for Beethoven & James Ehnes. Ehnes is known for his virtuosity and stunning musicianship, and will take on Barber’s Violin Concerto, one of the 20 Century’s most lyrical works. The ravishing concerto contrasts beautifully with Beethoven’s career-defining Symphony No. 3 (Eroica).
