Updated: January 18, 2021

Dear Patrons,

On behalf of our musicians, staff and board of directors, I’d like to wish you a happy new year. We are hopeful for all that 2021 will bring and we remain positive through these continued times of uncertainty. I am connecting with you to share the news that concerts and events in January and February will be impacted by the current provincial emergency and stay-at-home order.

As you know, Ontario declared a provincial emergency on January 13, 2021 and it continues through February 19, 2021. Unfortunately, this means we will need to postpone the recording and broadcast of the following online events:

  • A New Years Celebration, online concert originally scheduled January 23
  • Talk and Tea: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, online music appreciation talk originally scheduled February 18
  • Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, online concert originally scheduled February 20
  • Daytime Student Concert: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, online school concert originally scheduled February 24

The new premiere dates of these events will be announced as soon as the provincial emergency is lifted.

For now, online concerts from March through June will proceed as planned. This is a developing situation and we will continue to monitor the dates of upcoming concerts as they approach. Rest assured that concerts in the 20-21 Season may be rescheduled, but no concerts will be cancelled.  All online concerts will be available for 30 days following their premiere date, even if rescheduled.

Although we cannot present a concert this month, we are eager to share music with you. We are happy to announce that we have made our fall Hamilton Series concerts available again. Starting on Monday, January 11, September’s Joyful Mozart, October’s Whimsical Woodwinds and November’s Reflections from Russia have been reactivated on our online platform. These concerts will remain available to view until January 31, 2021 at 11:59pm EST and will be available again for purchase.

Beginning in early February, we look forward to releasing a series of performances by HPO musicians recorded from their homes. Each participating musician has selected solo, duo or trio works to share with you. Music Director Gemma New will also join us for a live interview online in late January. Stay tuned to staginghpo.wpengine.com for details of this month’s activities.

We thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.

Kim Varian
Executive Director
