HAMILTON, ON – On February 15 at 7:30pm at FirstOntario Concert Hall (formerly Hamilton Place), the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra presents Scheherazade led by our Music Director Gemma New.

The highlight of this concert is Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, the composer’s signature work that tells the fascinating story of Scheherazade and her epic tales collectively known as One Thousand and One Nights. Each movement evokes a different story as told by Scheherazade, whose voice is portrayed by a mesmerising violin theme. Showcasing the full power of the orchestra, this work features stories of love and adventure that weave together the tales and themes that Rimsky-Korsakov encountered in his life as a sailor.

This concert also features Principal Trombone David Pell as soloist on Tomasi’s Trombone Concerto, demonstrating the instrument’s range and virtuosity. The evening is rounded out with a dramatic performance of Rossini’s Semiramide Overture.
