From the start of our season in September, you have seen inspiring performances on our Mainstage that have embraced our connection to the natural world, explored cultural influences in our art form and honoured the legacies which we share. These Mainstage performances have celebrated our region and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra’s history and place within the community. Music Director Gemma New conducts our upcoming December concert, The Snowman, which will bring our youth to the forefront, as we share the stage with both the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Hamilton Children’s Choir.
What you may not have seen are the many performances and programs offstage that also have great impact in our community. These include integral music education programs to help fill the gaps in our school system, and our work with seniors and outreach to newcomers – programming that shares the power of live orchestral music with many who may not otherwise experience it.
However, like many organizations, we are facing decreased funding from provincial and corporate levels, which can make our education and outreach programs vulnerable.
To that end, a group of dedicated supporters have come forward with funds to help us launch a matching campaign. These donors have issued a challenge to the HPO community and will match all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000 – for a potential total of $30,000!
Please join these leaders to help us ensure that we can continue to share the joy of your orchestra with all members of the community. Your donations truly make a difference, and on behalf of all of us here at the HPO, and the many in our communities that share in our programs, we thank you.
