The Performance

Talk & Tea: Ravel and Mussorgsky provides a closer look at the dramatic rise of two prominent musical countries at the end of the 19^th and beginning of the 20^th centuries: Russia and France.  The new emphasis on cultural and extra-musical influence in music were championed by Russian nationalistic composer Modest Mussorgsky and French composer Maurice Ravel with his Spanish roots. These two worlds collide with Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s piece, Pictures at an Exhibition. 

Audiences get a special look at the HPO’s rehearsal of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major. 

Hosted by Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte, the HPO’s Talk & Tea Series takes audiences behind the music and composers featured on our Mainstage with special insights into the orchestra’s rehearsal process.
