Hamilton Jewish Federation launches its 2020 Community Campaign and honours more than 200 years of history in Hamilton with a celebratory concert. Experience live music performed by the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the talented Ben Caplan. An award-winning singer-songwriter, Ben is the son of the late Marvin Caplan and Judi Caplan.
This concert will showcase Hamilton Jewish history and celebrate the myriad contributions Jewish Hamiltonians have made to our city over the last 200 years. Given the disturbing rise in anti-Semitic incidents in our country over the last two years, the Hamilton Jewish Federation believes this is an important time for this event. Your support will make a statement of standing against antisemitism and racism, as well as demonstrate your solidarity with the Jewish community. Together we can build a better community and eradicate hate in Hamilton.
Ben Caplan writes, “I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the Hamilton Jewish Community for making me who I am today. Much of my work as a musician, songwriter and performer has been informed by my Jewish identity and the education and cultural experiences I had growing up in Hamilton. I can’t wait to celebrate the Hamilton Jewish community live on stage!”
The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is the premiere professional orchestra of the Greater Hamilton region. With an annual series of mainstage concerts at FirstOntario Concert Hall (formerly Hamilton Place), the HPO performs alongside internationally-renowned guest artists and significant community figures. HPO musicians are some of the most sought-after orchestral players in the country and are frequently engaged by the Canadian Opera Company, the Orchestra of the National Ballet of Canada, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and many other symphony orchestras nationally and internationally. The combined musical talents of the orchestra’s players continue to enrich and delight audiences throughout the community.
