Experience the excitement of working on great music with fellow young musicians in this weekend camp at Mohawk College’s Fennell Campus. Make new friends, learn great music and brush up on your skills with the HPO!
Now in its second edition, this intensive music workshop for young musicians will focus on chamber orchestra and conclude with a showcase on Sunday, November 26. Participating young musicians work alongside peers and professional musicians of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra in this fun and challenging program. In addition to sectional rehearsals and audition coaching, Concertmaster Stephen Sitarski works with young musicians in orchestral rehearsals to prepare exciting repertoire for the final showcase.

Positions and Repertoire
The remaining positions available for Young Musicians’ Boot Camp are listed below. Positions will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Registration is Open for Violins. Boot Camp Registration is now Closed for all other positions.
The following repertoire will be rehearsed and performed in the final showcase:
Mozart, Overture to Don Giovanni
Mendelssohn, The Hebrides Overture
Haydn, Symphony No. 104, First Movement

Closer to the registration deadline, an HPO staff member will contact all registered participants and indicate their position. Participating young musicians may then download parts using the link above. Participants are expected to have their own printed parts for each piece at all sectionals and rehearsals.
Other Ways We Engage
Following the completion of camp, all participating young musicians are invited to get together again in February to see Music Director Gemma New and the musicians of the HPO perform Gemma Conducts Haydn at FirstOntario Concert Hall on Saturday, February 17. Each participating young musicians will receive two complimentary tickets to this HPO mainstage concert as part of their camp registration.
Suggested Requirements
This program is open to young orchestral musicians from across the region. We recommend that participating young musicians play at a minimum RCM Gr. 6 level. If you have questions about your or your child’s suitability for this program, call the HPO at 905-526-1677 x226.
