FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HAMILTON, ON – The HPO is proud to release our recording of The Hockey Sweater, composed by HPO Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte and based on the beloved story by Roch Carrier who narrates on the recording.

This is the first recording of The Hockey Sweater, which Richardson-Schulte first composed in 2012 after being commissioned by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. It has since become a staple of Canadian orchestras having been performed by nearly every major orchestra in the country. The HPO recording took place in late 2018 with our Music Director Gemma New conducting. We are so excited that this monumental recording happened here in Hamilton with Richardson-Schulte, a long-time Dundas resident receiving national recognition for her phenomenal work.

Physical and digital copies of The Hockey Sweater are on sale now through the Canadian Music Centre. The HPO will have copies for sale at our December 21 performance The Snowman.
