The HPO’s 16-17 Season continues with a throwback to ‘30s and ‘40s swing, a rock n’ roll evening with the Indie Series and more!

HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) continues its HPO @ The Library Series Friday, November 11 at 12:45pm. This FREE talk at the Hamilton Public Library – Central Library explores the nostalgic music of the ’30s and ’40s, and reflects on Canada’s history with HPO Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte and A Night of Swing guest conductor Lucas Waldin. Guests are invited to bring their lunches, sit back, and enjoy this series of entertaining and educational concerts and talkbacks with the HPO.

On Saturday, November 12 at 7:30pm, the HPO goes swing in a nostalgic concert of wartime hits from the ‘30s and ‘40s. A Night of Swing features vocalist Michael Vanhevel, performing familiar favourites like Blue Moon, Auld Lang Syne, Band of Brothers, Tribute to Irving Berlin and more! This evening of remembrance honours our community’s military personnel and families, and guests are encouraged to wear their respective uniforms.

The Indie Series returns Thursday, November 24 at 7:30pm with local hard rock trio Black Collar Union. Head to Bay City Music Hall for an unforgettable concert that combines rock n roll and orchestral styles. The Indie Series pairs Hamilton’s emerging local artists with professional musicians from the HPO. Concert-goers will experience an innovative, cross-genre performance, featuring new and familiar works. It’s all about Hamilton’s vibrant music scene. Your scene.
