HPO Movie Night brings together the symphony and the silver screen for nostalgic movie nights at The Zoetic Theatre.

Enjoy a pre-film feature on the timeless and iconic musical score of 2001: A Space Odyssey. In this sci-fi masterpiece humanity finds a mysterious, obviously artificial, object buried beneath the Lunar surface and, with the intelligent computer H.A.L. 9000, sets off on a quest. Starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood and William Sylvester.

Pre-Film Feature: Every Film Composer’s Nightmare
Hollywood film composer Alex North wrote the music for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. He showed up at the premiere only to discover his music had been replaced by existing European orchestral music from the previous 100 years! Hear the wisdom behind Kubrick’s decision on the iconic music he chose vs. excerpts of Alex North’s original score.
