Following the widely recognized Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping days, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season and brings individuals together to remind us of the importance of giving back.
Now in its fifth year, #GivingTuesday was created by the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact. The movement inspired people to give to others and is celebrated in 71 countries around the world. In 2015, #GivingTuesday raised 116.7 million dollars in online donations.
One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. Did you know your HPO gives back to Hamiltonians in many different forms? Your support helps to share musical experiences through the following programs:
Gallery Series
Free 60-minute performances at local art galleries. Audience members can experience the beauty of chamber music in a unique setting, right in their own neighbourhood.
Education Initiatives
Your HPO believes in the value of music and music education. We bring the full experience of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra to students with programs designed to integrate musical concepts and activities into the classroom curriculum. Local schools can choose from a number of workshops which enhance student learning through the understanding and appreciation of orchestral music.
Seniors’ Symphony Experience
Your HPO brings the joy and enrichment of orchestral music to Hamilton’s senior communities through partnerships with local senior residences and retirement homes. We are proud to partner with Amica at Dundas, Caroline Place and St. Elizabeth’s Village to offer engaging and educational talks and/or performances. Residents learn about the stories behind the music and composers, and enjoy visits from the HPO Brass Quintet and HPO String Quartet.
HPO Gives Back
Through this initiative, your HPO provides complimentary tickets to the volunteers of local non-profit organizations that provide valuable services to the Hamilton community.
