Position: Principal Horn

Background

The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) has played an important role in shaping the cultural landscape of the City of Hamilton and the surrounding region. Led by Music Director Gemma New, the HPO is Hamilton’s only professional orchestra. The HPO’s self-produced concert season is comprised of nine (9) mainstage performances from September to May, two (2) family concerts, our annual What Next Festival of New Music and other performances throughout the community. The HPO has a core of 32 musicians, three (3) full-time and five (5) part-time administrative/production staff, including Personnel Manager and Music Librarian.

Musicians of the HPO are members of the American Federation of Musicians.

Application Procedure

Qualified applicants please send curriculum vitae to the attention of Gerry Custeau at gcusteau@hpo.org no later than September 6, 2016. Please be advised that national auditions will be held in Hamilton on September 19, 2016 in the Studio Theatre at FirstOntario Concert Hall (formerly Hamilton Place). No phone calls please.

Please forward a $30 deposit (a cheque made out to the order of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra). The deposit is refundable the day of the audition. However, if you decide to withdraw from this audition after Monday September 12, 2016, the deposit will not be returned.
