Music Director Gemma New kicks off the 17-18 Season with electrifying Russian classics. Canadian violinist and Los Angeles Philharmonic Concertmaster Martin Chalifour makes his Hamilton solo debut in a performance of Tchaikovsky’s virtuosic yet graceful Violin Concerto, while colourful and energetic works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Borodin round out the program. The suite from Stravinsky’s breakthrough ballet The Firebird ends this concert with a bang as your HPO brings this dazzling and colourful score to life.
