FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HAMILTON, ON – The HPO Board of Directors is delighted to announce the appointment of Diana Weir as its new Executive Director, effective January 2, 2017.

Diana has been a key member of the HPO’s senior leadership team since February 2013 and will take over from Carol Kehoe, who has lead the anchor arts organization with distinction for four years.

Announcing Diana’s appointment, HPO Chair Janice Locke said: “Diana is a creative and thoughtful leader. Her track record in introducing and executing new programming is extraordinary, and she will continue to build on the HPO’s momentum as a leading anchor arts organization in our community.”

Diana is a graduate of the Master of Communications Management through McMaster University-Syracuse University and has worked in a variety of senior capacities in the arts sector, including with the Canadian Opera Company and Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Music and Cultural Studies from McMaster University and lives in Hamilton.

Carol leaves the HPO December 31 to pursue a new executive leadership opportunity. During Ms Kehoe’s tenure, the HPO has seen its annual income increase 31 percent, new programming introduced, including the Gallery Series, Indie Series, Family Concert Experience and Seniors Symphony Experience, as well its general brand improved.

“We want to thank Carol for her exceptional leadership, enhancing the HPO’s position as one of Canada’s most respected professional orchestras,” said Locke. “We’re pleased Ms Kehoe will work with our new Executive Director to ensure an effective and smooth transition.”
